INSURANCE
|
Below is a partial explanation of insurance procedure when you visit Arthur Hadley Medicine. Feel free to call the office with any other questions you may have at (281) 597-1010, or send us email.
Health Insurance
Most insurance does not cover weight control (although there are several that do). Insurance normally covers other ailments. At the end of your visit, you will be given an itemized statement that you may submit to your insurance carrier. Our staff will be happy to assist you in preparing these forms for your insurance carrier.
Preferred Provider Programs
We are not on anyone's preferred provider program, so please make sure that you know what your insurance company will cover and what it will not.
We will give you two copies of your receipt which has all of the codes and numbers that the insurance companies use.
Medication
This depends on your carrier. You may find that they will cover all, none, or part of the medications prescribed. Medication costs for weight control are not normally covered by insurance (although there are several carriers that do). Medication for other ailments are normally covered. Again, our staff will be happy to assist you in preparing these forms for your insurance carrier.
Initial Diagnosis
Your diagnosis will usually not be weight control. On the first visit, Dr. Hadley typically marks possible hypothyroidism. What that would indicate is the possibility that your thyroid is working a little slowly, which would cause a slower metabolism; you might be tired and have gained some weight as a result. We will check your thyroid levels in the bloodwork and we will let you know if there is anything that requires regulation. Dr. Hadley most likely will recommend that you have a general physical exam, so if your carrier does provide for a yearly physical they may be more likely to cover it in that case.
Insurance Cards for Prescriptions
Currently, we are not accepting 'insurance cards' for prescriptions. Again, our staff will be happy to assist you in preparing the necessary forms for your insurance carrier.
In the meantime, if you require any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us here at Arthur Hadley Medicine through email or by phone. We look forward to hearing from you.
